A burning lithium battery generates heat from within itself. Dry chemical and CO₂ knock the flame down temporarily but do nothing about the heat inside the cell, so it can reignite. AVD is designed specifically for this.

What AVD is

Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion — water mixed with vermiculite. Sprayed onto a fire, the mineral forms a heat-blocking film over the battery surface while the water brings the temperature down.

Removes heat

The water component draws heat out of the battery cell — the very thing that causes reignition.

Coats the surface to stop spread

Vermiculite forms a film on the surface, helping stop heat spreading to neighbouring cells.

Non-conductive

Tested for electrical safety — exact figures pending the manufacturer's certification documents.

Straight answers before you buy

Can one extinguisher put out a whole EV fire?

No. A full vehicle fire needs large volumes of water and a fire crew. An AVD extinguisher is there todeal with a fire while it is still small — an e-bike or scooter battery, a power bank, or a fire at a charging point, before it grows.

Does buying one mean you can stop worrying?

No. An extinguisher is a tool for buying time. Just as important are an evacuation plan, placing units where someone can actually reach them in time, and practising with them. We advise on the whole package rather than just selling you a cylinder.

We put it this way because there is a lot of overstated marketing in this market, and we would rather you decided on accurate information.
